The full-featured Kaspersky Anti-Virus suite offers a complete and competitive range of security options. The new features in the 2010 edition include the aforementioned behavioral-based detection system called the Urgent Detection Sytsem. The UDS uses the anonymous data of 10 million of Kaspersky’s customers who choose to participate in submitting their system scans to Kaspersky’s central servers for analysis, and it “red flags” suspicious behavior so that even if a program used to be safe, it can shut down newly activated malicious intent.
Kaspersky Antivirus 2010 offers four different scanning modes: Full scan, Quick scan, Start Objects scan and Vulnerability scan. Each one of them can be triggered manually or set to run according to a customizable schedule. The program also includes the so called Proactive Defense, a special module that protects your system in real time and can take care of any suspicious behavior right on the spot.
Besides being an antivirus, Kaspersky Antivirus 2010 features a few extra security tools, with which you can create a rescue disk, tune up your browser settings and erase user activity traces, among other tasks.
